Frequently Asked Questions
Answering Your Most Pressing Questions
What types of therapy do you offer?
I offer person-centred therapy; it is a client-based way of working employing a non-authoritative, non-judgmental humanistic approach. The client is the expert in their world and as such during the process of therapy the client can open up their choices, empowering change within their own lives.
How do I get started with therapy?
You can start by sending an enquiry through my website. We will then schedule a free 30-minute initial assessment to discuss your needs and what you’d like to talk about. If we agree to work together, we will set flexible goals for your therapy journey.
Do you offer in-person therapy sessions?
No, I only offer online or over the phone therapy sessions.
What qualifications do you have?
I hold a variety of qualifications that allow me to provide professional therapeutic support. I have a Diploma in Counselling Studies and a BA (HONS) in Counselling, awarded by the University of Essex. Additionally, I hold an OCNLR (QCF) qualification in Corporate Mediation and am accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have completed postgraduate studies in Further and Higher Education (FE and HE), and have undertaken specialised training in Remote Counselling to hone my skills in virtual therapy. My expertise also includes Body-Based Therapy, where I focus on breathing techniques to manage trauma, and Focusing (Gendlin) Meditation, a six-step process aimed at promoting self-awareness and healing.
I am trained in working with Alzheimer’s patients, conducting risk assessments related to Covid-19, and have an understanding of Panic Disorder and Autism. I also have specialised training in Complex and Non-Complex PTSD, with a focus on Rewind Therapy as an alternative to EMDR.
How long have you been practising?
I have been practising as a counsellor/psychotherapist since 2015 and have over 5000 client hours to date. I have experience working in various settings, including the NHS, local government, and with students through the DSA.
What is person-centred therapy?
Person-centred therapy is a client-focused approach that embraces a non-authoritative and non-judgmental, humanistic way of working. The client is the expert in their world and as such during the process of therapy the client can open up their choices, empowering change within their own lives.
What is your therapy process like?
The process begins with an initial free 30-minute assessment. If we decide to proceed, we will establish a contract and set flexible goals for what we aim to achieve. Sessions will be scheduled regularly, and we will work collaboratively towards your therapeutic goals.
How can therapy help with anxiety and depression?
Therapy offers a safe and supportive space where we can explore your past and present experiences together. By entering your world, we can work to identify the triggers that may be contributing to your anxiety or depressive feelings. Using various techniques, we’ll aim to reduce these uncomfortable emotions and help you regain a sense of control and empowerment.
